Daoism and the Sign of the Cross

It's fascinating how sometimes different cultures discover the same things, but explain them in completely different ways. One such example is how the Catholic Signum Crucis ("Sign of the Cross") correlates to the teachings of Daoism. Seems like a stretch? Actually, not as much as you might think.

Understanding Spirituality

Most people either avoid thinking about their spirituality (or even what means), or they are in denial of it. That's understandable - it is a difficult thing to do and requires a certain amount of skill. To make matters worse, the prerequisite skills I'm talking about are themselves difficult ones to master - things like having a truly open mind, being flexible and adaptable, feeling comfortable challenging your own beliefs, and being able to be honest with yourself and see yourself for who you really are.

A Man and His Wife

On a cold day, in a small village in ancient China, a man sought out the local Daoist sage for advice. He found the sage meditating upon a flat rock, beneath the umbrella of a large tree.

"Oh, sage! I humbly seek your advice", said the man.
